New Dell XPS 13 Plus - Overview

 

The perfect ultrabook?

The recently launched Dell XPS 13 Plus is the latest edition of Dell's ultrabook which is very popular amongst people. The new version takes a new design approach, and is very, very minimalist.

 

Dell XPS 13 Plus Design

 

Dell XPS 13 Plus comes with a thin, and very minimalist design. The ultrabook has a glass panel surrounding its keyboard with an invisible touchpad. Furthermroe, the controls are also made of touch buttons instead of usual ones, while the keyboard is edge-to-edge on both sides. with a height of barely above 15 mm, width of 295.3 mm and a depth of 199.04 mm, Dell XPS 13 Plus is a very compact machine, and relatively light at 1.23 kilgorams. 

In terms of ports, Dell XPS 13 Plus offers only two USB-C ports on both sides. Both USB ports are Thunderbolt 4 and offer DisplayPort and Power Delivery.To make up for the lack of ports, a USB-C to USB-A and USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapters are provided in the package.

 

Dell XPS 13 Plus Display, Speakers

 

Dell XPS 13 Plus comes with three types of displays; a FHD, 1920x1200 60hz, InfinityEdge display with brightness of 500 nits. A 3.5k OLED display with touchscreen and InfinityEdge Display with a brightness of 400 nits. And a 3840x2400 touch display with InfinityEdge and a brightness of 500 nits.  

The displays are bright, especially OLED technology on one of the options produces crisp display quality. The ultrabook also comes with dual stereo speakers which deliver crisp sound.

 

Dell XPS 13 Plus Computing Power and Memory

 

Dell XPS 13 Plus comes in three processor options; Core i5-1240P (upto 4.40 Ghz turbo), Core i7-1260P (upto 4.7 ghz turbo), and Core i7-1280P (upto 4.8 ghz turbo). The processors are relatively powerful with the 4.8 ghz model being one of the best laptop processors on the market currently. 

The ultrabook also comes with 8, 16, and 32 GB LPDDR5 RAM options which will provide plenty of memory for running key programs especially in the 32 GB model. There are also 3 storage options which are 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2TB Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD.

Dell XPS 13 Plus Battery Life and Charging

Dell XPS 13 Plus comes with a 3 cell, 55wh battery. The battery life of the laptop however is underwhelming on higher-end models as it lasts for 6 hours at best, while the FHD+ model may provide longer battery life due to less demanding screen. The laptop comes with a 60W charger which charges through USB-C, and its Power Delivery function will also allow you to charge your smartphone.

Dell XPS 13 Plus starts from 1299.72 GBP for its base model (i5, 8GB, 512 GB). While the highest spec model can cost you up to 2260 GBP. (View on Dell's website).
